MI Legends is committed to helping every athlete continue to grow throughout the season. Our athlete development program uses player evaluations, position-specific development, skill feedback, physical development, and individualized recommendations to help players understand their strengths, identify areas for improvement, and establish clear goals for continued growth. Development is an ongoing process, and our goal is to give each athlete the feedback, resources, and support needed to reach her next level.
Athletes receive feedback throughout the season to help them understand their current performance, progress, strengths, and priority areas for continued growth.
Players receive position-specific instruction designed to improve the technical skills, decision-making, and court responsibilities required for their primary and developing positions.
Coaches provide clear and actionable feedback during practices, competitions, evaluations, and individual development conversations.
Athletes may receive recommendations related to strength, speed, movement, mobility, conditioning, injury prevention, and other physical areas that support volleyball performance.
When additional support would benefit an athlete, MI Legends may recommend individual training priorities, at-home work, position adjustments, outside resources, or other development opportunities.
Athlete development is a shared responsibility. Coaches provide instruction and feedback, while athletes are expected to remain coachable, communicate when they need help, and consistently apply the recommendations they receive.
Athletes or parents may request additional development support when a player needs clarification about feedback, help establishing development goals, position-specific guidance, or recommendations for addressing an area of concern. The athlete should first speak with her head coach when the concern relates to practice, position assignments, skill feedback, or team performance. The Director of Athlete Development may provide additional support when a more individualized plan or resource is needed.
